FAQ

Varm Seder means “warm cedar” in Norwegian (frequently used in descriptions of perfumes or sauna wood). It is pronounced as “VARM SEE-der.

Hot cedar. Cold water. Good company. We’re a community sauna on Brewery Row in Kenmore, right off the Burke-Gilman Trail. You book a 60-minute session, warm up in our hand-crafted cedar sauna, cool down under a bucket waterfall shower, and repeat.

Grand opening targeted for September 2026.

Our first 50 members are special! Founding Members receive a one-time offer of unlimited sessions for a low monthly price, a Varm Seder sauna hat and water bottle, and they help shape Varm Seder as we open. It’s capped at 50, and once it’s full, it’s full.

7324 NE 175th Street, Suite F, Kenmore, WA, on Brewery Row, directly on the Burke-Gilman Trail. We’re neighbors with Copperworks Distilling, De La Soil, Ember, and WhatsSup Paddle & Surf. Sweat, then grab dinner or a drink without moving your car.
Easily. We’re right on the Burke-Gilman, so plenty of guests roll in by bike or on foot. There are shared bike racks with Ember and Copperworks.
Bring a swimsuit, a water bottle, and a towel for drying off after your session. If you forget your towel or just don’t want to deal with a damp towel at the end of the session, we have them available to rent one time or as a monthly add-on to your package.
A swimsuit is standard. This is a shared, swimsuit-on space so come dressed to move between hot and cold comfortably. Leave metal jewelry, watches and Oura rings at home as they are not friends with the sauna. It’s a good idea to bring dry clothes for after your session.

We have changing rooms on site, including an ADA-accessible bay. Restrooms are available within a short walk (sans showers). We have lockers where you can store your belongings, but we recommend leaving valuables at home.

Sessions are capped at 16 guests. Come solo, bring your person, or book the whole thing for your crew.
  1. Leave your shoes at the check-in area.
  2. Take off jewelry.
  3. Always sit on a towel.
  4. Take your towel with you when you leave the sauna
  5. Watch your step near the showers.
  6. Take care around the hot steam when adding water to the stove.
  7. Leave your sauna session feeling amazing.
We use barrel waterfall showers for the cold side of contrast. You pull the cord, the cold water cascades down, and you decide how brave you’re feeling. It’s bracing, it’s quick, and it’s entirely up to you how much you take on.

The cold showers are there if you want them, and plenty of people love the hot-cold rhythm, but nothing is required. Sit in the heat, rest by the fire, go at your pace.

Yes. It’s a hand-crafted western red cedar sauna heated by a propane-fired stove. The stove includes rocks to pour water over so you can get your löyly fix.

If you’re new to sauna, traditional saunas utilize löyly (pronounced loi-loo), the practice of ladling water onto the hot sauna stones. Pouring water creates a quick burst of steam that raises humidity and creates a more intense, therapeutic feeling on the skin without altering the room’s overarching heat level.

You can step out to cool down any time you like.

Listen to your body and stay hydrated. Most people do rounds of 10–15 minutes in the heat, then cool down, then go back. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, step out. Everyone has their own rhythm.

Sauna and cold exposure are safe for most people. If you’re pregnant, have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, or any medical concern, check with your doctor first. Skip your session if you’re feeling unwell, and don’t sauna after drinking alcohol.

We are an 18+ and older space.

Yes. Private sessions are great for birthdays, team offsites, or a group that wants the space to themselves. Reach out at bookings@varmsedersauna.com and we’ll set it up.

You’re welcome to cancel or reschedule your session up to 24 hours in advance.

Heck yeah! What is a better gift than the gift of sauna? We offer gift cards for one, two, or three sessions, and also a customizable amount.
